T-mobile is putting the pressure on other phone companies.

Unlimited talk and text with 500 MB data for $50 per month.
2 lines $80
3 lines $90
4 lines  $100

A few years ago T-mobile seemed to be in trouble, and layed off many workers,
and almost sold to AT&T.

They now seem to be expanding the network with 4G LTE

They had free wi-fi calling so that it did not used plan minutes,
but now with unlimited calling it only helps if there is poor service.

A big advantage is to make your phone a hot-spot without additional charges.

--------------------------
10/24/11

T-mobile
no over charge, speed throttled
2 GB  $39.99 per month

5 GB $49.99 per month

10 GB $79.99 per month

$1.61 per line/month applies.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Wireless internet price cut from $60 month  (6/10)

to $39.99 per month

Up to 5 GB monthly high speed mobile broadband Web access (HSPA)
No overages! If the monthly 5 GB limit is exceeded, data speeds may be reduced.
Unlimited Wi-Fi Web access at T-Mobile HotSpots

I upgraded my GPRS that already had a phone line,
therefore no activation fee,
free modem (wanted to charge $100)
free shipping
no upgrade fee.

I had been paying $10 for add on phone
$25 internet service,
so the high speed is almost the same price.

If you are a current or former T-Mobile customer who never sent a text message,

but received, were charged and paid for thext messages,

while not on a rate plan or value bundle plan that included text messages,

during the period October 1, 2003 to September 4, 2009,

you may be a member of a settlement Class.

A proposed Settlement was reached in a class action lawsuit

alleging that T-Mobile charged certain customers

for "unwanted" text messages.

The Settlement will provide customers with the continued ability to block chargeable text messages

and will maintain certain policies.

The Court (will have) had a hearing on March 5, 2010,

to decide whether to approve the settlement.

If you are a class member you (have) had several options....

... for a class member who won at trial would range from approximately $0.07 to $1.17.

These are merely average estimates, and some class members may have larger damage claims,

depending on the number of unwanted text messages they received.

Times are tough

T-mobile is putting the screws to customers.

It is even worse  than I thought.

Get a FREE  Phone -- only $26.00

Thats right, sign up for two more years
get a free phone but $18 upgrade fee
plus shipping
plus tax
What a deal.

Cutting service by no more free detail billing
unless set up before 12/08.  $1.99 if set later

Now. NO more free paper billing.
$1.50 per month extra starting September 2009

They already charge $1.21 per line just because
they need the money. (Regulatory Programs Fee)
"Fee we collect and retain to help cover our costs..."

I am using the T-mobile Aircard in a Notebook
until something better (cheaper) comes along.
This is going down hill, 2009
They slow transfers down, drop line, etc
if someone else wants  to use the service.

It is kind of like dial up, but is ON all of the time.
It connects when I power  up the computer
and if it drops out, it will automatically connect again.

A phone line and ISP unlimited service for less than  $40 a month.
It does not have a POP server for E-mail,
so I have to use a different server for E-mail.

T-mobile is really not in the internet service
and does not push sales.

It looks like internet  service will be Verizon and AT&T.

Both want $60 a month plus, plus, plus for 5GB

I think Verizon might be  the better choice,
but a 2 year contract when real high speed may be only 1 year away
makes T-mobile look not so bad.

-----------------------------------
5/29/09
T-mobile is uptown now.
E-mail and Web browsing up to 5GB usage per month $59.99 <---------- notice price cut to $39.99 (6/10)

They look just like the big boys now.

The Texas Universal Service Fund (TUSF) assessment rate has been decreased to 3.4% from 4.4%
of taxable intrastate revenues effective January 1, 2009 as directed by the Public Utility Commission.

Charges for internet wireless aircard (Edge)

I have the family voice plan, so add an additional line

Additional line_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _$9.99
HotSpot - unused, not wanted_ _ _ _$9.99
VPN Int Addon_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _$15.00
Hidden Fee - just because _ _ _ _ _ _0.86
Federal Universal Service Fund  _ _  0.02
State Sales Tax _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ 0.70
State Universal Service Fund _ _ _ _ 0.31
State 911 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ 0.50

Total _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _$37.37

The price listed is with an old plan.
The new plans may not be as good.

At the present time (early 2009)
this more or less dial up speed
seems to be the best deal.

High speed would be nice,
but the price is higher.

The feeling is that T-mobile
does not want to sell computer internet service.
They have high speed in Houston,
but do not have a card to fit computers.
All you can use are the fancy phones.

I think the T-mobile HotSpot is a bust.
They first tried charging by the byte,
and that did not work.
They now force me to buy the HotSpot
included in my "plan".

The HotSpot has never been used.

old news

T-mobile is going to a Summary Paper Bill

              /   should have acted
You (must act) before December 2008

to retain detail billing at no additional charge.

It will be $1.99 a month if changed later.

-

T-mobile lists high speed in Houston, 11/08

but does not have any computer cards available.

I am not sure how many are using T-mobile phone service,

but they are changing the detail billing

if you do not complain before  December 2008.

Just one more cost cutting measure.

My phone service used to give true per second billing

and it did not start until the other person answered.

When T-mobile bought them out, that all changed.

T-mobile is still probably the cheapest cell phone.

They say that they have high speed in Houston,

but do not show a computer card that is available.

May have hidden charges not listed.

Unlimited data

T-mobile

Internet Browsing
Internet Access Unlimited

T-Mobile Total Internet $39.99

T-Mobile Total Internet for Data Cards   $49.99

(Not sure in the difference, well it is $10.00)

This is only GPRS or EDGE like dial up, but on all the time.
Edge may run 2 to 3 times faster than GPRS

My employer has a Internet plan for $30 per month (had it a long time)

A couple of years later I bought a plan for $40 per month. 12/07
I had a voice plan already
an added another phone for $9.95
and the data plan for $29.95
I threw the phone away (in desk drawer)
and used the SIM card in my PCMCIA aircard.

T-mobile has gone to selling only Sony Ericsson cards

The Sony Ericsson would not work for me in a Toshiba notebook
and I bought the T-mobile Sierra 750 and it worked fine.
(anyone want to buy a used Sierra 750 ? Works great, does not have EDGE )

The unlocked 775 was purchased off of Ebay (runs EDGE)
and is not supported by T-mobile, but works fine.

Anytime I call customer support they do not like my card.
I have had no problems with the card.

The 775 will also connect with EDGE
T-mobile seems to be having problems getting EDGE to work.

Supposedly they are upgrading their system
and it does work fine in Houston,
but in other areas very intermittently.

As strange as it may seem
when the sun comes up, it goes very intermittent.

T-mobile does not mention EDGE in their advertisements.
Perhaps they are waiting for improvements in their system.

It is not clear what the difference in the two plans

Total Internet  Unlimited  No voice $39.99
additional minutes $0.20

Total Internet for Data Cards  Unlimited  No voice  $49.99

Need to check on the extra charges

a Regulatory Cost Recovery Fee
a gross receipts surcharge
State and Federal Universal Service charges
Is there a sales tax ?

voice calls $0.20 per minute
